Wool Felt - 12" x 18" Pieces

great "stuff" from National Nonwovens is a cross between felt and wool.
The fiber
content is as follows:
Style WCF
= 20% wool/80% rayon = $8.00 per yard
(36 wide)
When
washed, it resembles boiled wool - but at a much nicer price.
Wool felt can shrink 3"-5"
per yard when washed, so be sure to allow adequate yardage for
shrinkage. Please be aware that colors can bleed. See our " Tips"
page for other helpful hints and suggestions.

Wool Felt VS Felted Wool? What is the difference?
The
product featured on our site is WOOL FELT, manufactured by
National Nonwovens. It is a felt fabric made from wool and rayon.
Felt is a type of fabric that is made by bonding fibers together. It
is not a woven fabric. Because it is a blend of wool and rayon, when
soaked in hot water, then tossed in the dryer, the fibers will shrink
up and cause the fabric to be bubbly and soft. You can expect
shrinkage of 3-5 in length and 2 4 in width per yard. Think of
wool felt as more similar to a craft type felt, but with a much nicer
feel, flexibility, and variety of colors. Wool Felt will NOT
pill, shed, or stretch out of shape like acrylic or polyester craft
felts tend to do.
FELTED WOOL,
on the other hand, typically refers to a woven fabric that has been
soaked in hot water, agitated, then exposed to heat for drying. This
process compacts the weave of the fabric and creates a very dense
product. Think of felted wool as being similar to a wool hat or heavy
wool coat.

If your project requires multiple 12" x 18" pieces of the same
color, you recommend purchasing the felt in yardage instead.

For example:
Two 12 " x 18" pieces = 1/3 yard (12" x 36") = .34
Three 12 x 18 pieces = ½ yard (18 x 36) = .5
Four 12" x 18" pieces = 2/3 yard (24" x 36") = .67
Five 12 x 18 pieces = 7/8 yard (approximately 30 x 36 ) =
.875
Six 12" x 18" pieces = 1 yard (36" x 36") = 1
This will give you one large piece to work with instead of
several small pieces, and is also just a bit more cost
effective.
If you have ordered multiple 12 x 18 cuts of one color on your
order, we may ship those cuts as the equivalent yardage amount
listed above, unless you specify differently in the Special
Instructions box at check-out.

Set includes 4 cards containing swatches of all 78 colors that
we currently stock. Swatches are permanently adhered to the card
and are labeled with color name and number for ordering. Set
also includes our DMC Floss/Wool Felt conversion chart to help
you select the perfect floss color for your projects.
