What You Need:
(8) 1 /2 yard dark cuts for blocks and pieced binding
2 3/8 yards light  for background and inner border
3 1/3 yard of 42" wide fabric for backing
OR 1 3/4 yards 90" wide for backing


Finished Size:  72" x 88"
What You Need:
2/3 yard  dark cuts for blocks
2/3 yards for binding
2 3/8 yards light for background and inner border
5 yards of 42" wide fabric for backing
OR 2 3/4 yards of 90" wide for backing
*For the twin size, you will be adding an additional row of border blocks to the top, bottom, and sides of quilt.


Cutting Instructions:
From the dark fabrics for the blocks and binding cut the following.  Be sure to follow the instructions for the correct sized quilt. A TOTAL of (8) 12 7/8" x 12 7/8" squares.  Cut each square in half diagonally to form 16 triangles.

For the Throw Size Quilt cut a TOTAL of (14) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares for top and bottom border.
For the Throw Size Quilt cut a TOTAL of (7) 2 1/4" strips from the leftover dark fabrics for binding.

For the Twin Size Quilt cut a TOTAL of (50) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares for top, bottom, and side borders.
For the Twin Size Quilt cut (8) 2 1/4" strips from your separate binding fabric.

From the light background fabric cut the following for either size quilt.
Cut in the order given to make best use of fabric.
Cut the border strips LENGTHWISE  from the fabric.
Cut (2) 4 1/2" x 48 1/2" strips and (2) 4 1/2" x 56 1/2" strips for the inner borders.  (Note:  You may want to measure your quilt at this point.  Due to variances in seam allowances your quilt may be a little bigger or smaller.)
From the remaining background fabric cut:
(4) 12 7/8" x 12 7/8" squares.  Cut each square in half diagonally to form 8 triangles.
(4) 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" squares.

Sewing Instructions:
Lay out triangles and squares following diagram for placement.  Stitch quilt center by laying two triangles right sides together, sew down long edge to form squares.  Sew squares into columns, then join the rows together.  Add
inner border to both sides, then to top and bottom.
For the Throw Size:
Sew 2 rows of (7) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares each.  Add one row to the top, and one row to the bottom.
For the Twin  Size:
Sew 4 rows of (7) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares each.  Add two rows to the top, and two rows to the bottom.
Sew 2 rows of (11) 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" squares each.  Add one row to each side.
